When Not To Repair

Most recent projection sets that utilize a projection lamp rather than three picture tubes have a cool down timer to insure the projection lamp will not be struck (turned on) while it is hot. This action can damage the lamp, so a timer is incorporated to prevent turning the lamp back on immediately after it has been shut off.  This results in up to 2 minute delays in turning on a set that has just been turned off.

Some sets also incorporate a warm up timer that will inhibit the turn off function for about 1 minute after turn on to insure the lamp has gone through an entire warm up cycle.
