Sony VCR Exchange Policy

Certain model year 2000 and later Sony VCR products will be exchanged rather than repaired in the event they fail to operate properly. Failures during the first 90 days may be handled by the store where the product was purchased. After 90 days, contact the Sony Customer service number in the back of your owner's manual for to arrange for an exchange unit at a reasonable fee. 

Sony Digital Imaging Warranty Service Policy

Effective April 1, 2005, warranty service on Camcorders, Mavica and Digital Still Camera will no longer be provided by the authorized service network. The product will be sent to Sony Electronics in Laredo Tx for repair. Go on line to http://www.sony.com and follow the links to support/registration then repair to get details.

How to get service:
During the initial 90 days:
bulletProperly pack your unit. Include any cables, etc., which were originally provided with the product. We recommend using the original carton and packing materials.
bulletProof of purchase in the form of a bill of sale or receipted invoice which is evidence that the product is within the warranty period must be included to obtain warranty service. For rental firms, proof of first rental is also required. The unit will be returned to you if you fail to include this information.
bulletPrint your name and address and a description of the defect. Send via standard UPS or its equivalent to:

bulletInsure your shipment for loss or damage. Thomson accepts no liability in case of damage or loss en route to Thomson.
bulletPay any charges billed to you by Thomson for service not covered by the warranty.
bulletA new or refurbished unit will be shipped to you freight prepaid.
After 90 days and within one year:
bulletCall 317-415-4909 and arrange to pay the $29.95 handling fee. It can be paid by credit card (Discover, Visa, or MasterCard), certified check, or money order.
bulletOnce payment has been arranged, you will be provided with a Service Request (SR) number. No returns will be accepted without the SR number.
bulletProperly pack your unit. Include any cables, etc., which were originally provided with the product. We recommend using the original carton and packing materials.
bulletWrite the SR number on the outside of the carton used to return the unit.
bulletProof of purchase in the form of a bill of sale or receipted invoice which is evidence that the product is within the warranty period must be included to obtain warranty service.
